Residents urge caution on drainage, pond condition and narrow roads during Lansing Woods South hearing

Several residents used the public comment period during the Lansing Woods South hearing to press the developer and commission on buffers, drainage and traffic. Linda Scott asked whether a proposed 10-foot buffer would intrude on an existing utility easement behind her property; the developer said buffer placement depends on property and easement boundaries and that easements must be maintained.
Kurt Lyon described concerns about County Road 150 North being too narrow for two-way traffic and school buses, and raised alarm about an on-site pond he said had been filled with concrete as "clean fill" from Interstate 70 and that lime dust washes into it during storms. "Probably needs to be some type of cleanup done there," Lyon said. Planning staff noted a clean-fill letter exists in the record and the developer said detailed engineering (including any regulated-drain rerouting) will be completed if rezoning is approved; the developer also agreed to consider pond aeration as a maintenance measure.
