The Trappe Town Council granted permission Sept. 4 to close Main Street for the 157th annual Nace's Day parade on Nov. 2 and approved town-park use for the celebration.
Yvonne Freeman, chair of the Nace's Day celebration, requested the closure and use of Nace's Park, Veterans Park and the open lot behind Veterans Park for festival activities. "The 157th annual celebration will be held on November 2nd," she told the Council. Sgt. Aita said the Sheriff's Office would coordinate street closures and Commissioner Newnam said the fire department could provide barricades. The Council approved the request unanimously.
The minutes record the closure from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. with a parade starting at 1 p.m.; staff were directed to coordinate with the Sheriff's Office and public-safety providers to ensure attendee safety.
