Trappe council directs RFPs for sewer inspection, meter upgrades and infrastructure security
Summary
Council members asked staff to issue RFPs for sewer-main camera inspection and water-meter/radio-read replacement and requested pricing for fencing and cameras at wellhouses, the water tower and the treatment plant; Phase 2 pumping station options will be reviewed with GMB and USDA for possible ARPA funding.
During an ARPA-focused workshop and the subsequent regular meeting, Administrator Erin Braband presented quotes and the Council directed follow-up procurement steps. Because projected costs for sewer-main camera inspection and for replacing water meters and radio-read components were significant, the Council asked Attorney Lyndsey Ryan to prepare requests for proposals for both projects rather than accept single quotes.
The Council also requested pricing for fencing and cameras at the Town's wellhouses, water tower and treatment plant as part of a broader security review. Separately, members discussed proceeding with portions of a Phase 2 pumping station project and asked staff to consult engineering firm GMB and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) about whether ARPA funds could be used for that work.
