Trappe Council approves ARPA spending for IT, meters, HVAC and security upgrades

The Trappe Town Council voted unanimously Sept. 4 to allocate remaining ARPA funds for a batch of town needs including new computers, monitors, two firewalls, three 2-inch water meters and replacement of the treatment-plant heating and air-conditioning unit.
President Schmidt said the Council discussed proposals compiled at an earlier workshop and moved forward on the items recommended by staff. "Commissioner Newnam made a motion to use ARPA funds to approve the purchase of new computers, new monitors and 2 firewalls as per BDK's proposal," the minutes record; Commissioner Chase seconded and the motion passed.
The Council also approved outfitting town trucks with requested equipment but deferred window tinting pending Attorney Ryan's legal review. Officials noted one vendor proposals are being used as the basis for purchases: BDK for IT equipment, L/B Water for meters and Comfort Plus for the HVAC unit. The minutes state the generator for the water tower is inoperable and was later declared an emergency purchase for expedited replacement; Council asked staff to obtain additional proposals for review at a special meeting on Sept. 11.
Commissioner Newnam and Commissioner Chase made the motions on the ARPA items and each motion was seconded and approved unanimously. The Council asked staff to return with formal quotes and procurement steps at upcoming meetings.
