LDC FM proposes station-alerting upgrades to reduce unnecessary wake-ups at fire stations

Mackenzie described modern features that reduce unnecessary wake-ups by targeting alerts to specific rooms and roles: "So the station alerting that we have now... was actually last updated in 2013, 2014... some new elements... are actually specific to each room... when Medic 5 gets dispatched, my lights come on," she said, illustrating how only the responding crew or room would be alarmed instead of waking an entire station. Staff said the project had appeared in LDC FM's proposed budget for 2028 and would improve responder health and safety by reducing unnecessary disturbance while preserving call responsiveness.
