Council approves revised 2027 budget calendar as staff flags rising mill-rate projections

A staff member standing in for the budget officer presented an adjusted 2027 budget calendar to buy extra time before final publication. He said the town submitted a higher valuation to the county clerk and that the revisions will allow staff and council to make final decisions before the last publication date.
He gave mill-rate projections on the record: “the 2026 mills would be 16.74 and the 2027 17.28,” and noted that including the new fire truck and extra gear previously would have taken the projection to about 18.42, though under the latest valuation the effective mill rate was estimated at 16.99. Council approved the revised calendar as amended.
