Town Manager Karen Astley told the Putney and Dummerston selectboards that renewing the state Multi-Sector General Permit has been difficult because the application appears written for a larger pit (the ‘Renaud’ pit) and requires technical answers that exceed current staff expertise. Astley said the jointly owned pit has much less activity and the permit should reflect that lower intensity.
The boards agreed to proceed with hiring a consultant to complete the renewal and to clarify whether water sampling after storms is required for the joint pit. Astley framed the consultant hire as a practical step to ensure compliance and to produce the necessary documentation for future permit renewals.
