Putney board approves commemorative flags and records June policing forum

The Selectboard approved EIAC’s request to fly Pride, Juneteenth, non-binary and disability flags on specified June–July dates and noted a public forum on fair and impartial policing scheduled for June 17 at Putney Central School.
Corin “Swift Everdy” Kennedy-Spielman, chair of the Equity & Inclusion Advisory Committee, read a statement on International Pride Month and requested that the town fly four commemorative flags on specified dates in June and July. The schedule approved by the Selectboard: Pride flag June 1–17 and June 21–30; Juneteenth flag June 18–20; International Non-Binary People’s Day flag July 13–15; and National Disability Independence Day flag July 25–27. Aileen Tulloch moved to approve the request and Rebecca “Bex” Slattery seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
The board also recorded details for a public forum on fair and impartial policing scheduled for June 17 at Putney Central School (dinner 5–6 p.m.; forum 6–8 p.m.; childcare available). Listed participants include Windham County Sheriff Mark Anderson, Vermont State Police representatives, Dr. Cliff Wood and State Senator Nader Hashim; Kerry Amidon will moderate and BCTV will film.
