Putney leaders weigh CHIP financing and a part-time assistant clerk role

Town Manager Karen Astley used the May 13 meeting to outline current projects and potential funding opportunities, including preparing a proposal for the Vermont Community and Housing Infrastructure Program (CHIP), a ten-year financing tool for water, sewer, roads and stormwater that she said could support new housing and infrastructure projects.
Astley also reminded the board that fourth-quarter property taxes are due Friday, May 15, with an 8% penalty if not received by 4:30 p.m. She said she is working with the Town Clerk and Treasurer to draft a job description for a part-time (16 hours/week) Assistant Clerk position that would combine duties of the clerk, treasurer and delinquent tax collector.
Astley said she would circulate information about Braver Angels training for managing difficult conversations and report back to the board on the CHIP proposal timeline.
