Municipal engineer donates replica cannon for JVH celebrations; town to display until storage ready

Officials said municipal engineer Paul Ferrero commissioned a replica cannon and carriage from a friend with reenactment experience. "Paul commissioned a cannon, which is a replica of the cannons that would have been employed and deployed at the Plockman Cantonment," one official said. The cannon and carriage have been fabricated; the long-term plan is to house them in a barn to be constructed at the Jacobus Van der Beere House.
In the short term, the committee said the cannon will be displayed prominently at town hall until storage is available. Officials discussed logistics and safety; they noted the replica will not be fired at the upcoming ceremony and that a display solution is being finalized.
