Recreation and public-safety officials briefed the committee on fall programming and recent turnout at town events.
The recreation subcommittee said Fall Fest is scheduled for Oct. 10 at River Road Park and vendor applications have been mailed. The new dog park is awaiting a few pieces of equipment, after which installation and a ribbon-cutting date will be set.
Chief Bernardo described Family Fun Night, which the police department is hosting in place of National Night Out. "We're gonna have inflatables, food, a DJ, a dunk tank, and it's all free," he said, and noted police, fire and the squad will attend. The event is scheduled for Aug. 27, 5โ8 p.m., at River Road Park.
Officials also reported strong farmers market numbers despite storms: "4 85 at 10:00, we finished the day at 735," one official said, citing nearly continuous attendance even as thunderstorms forced a shutdown around 12:30 on one day. Volunteers and staff were thanked for their response during weather disruptions.
