Monroe County commissioners approved a set of four related American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) items on July 23 that reorganize obligations within the county’s ARPA plan and adjust contract totals tied to previously approved projects.
Commissioner Cockrell read the items into the record: a re‑obligation within the ARPA plan totaling $28,830,982; a Monroe Fire Protection District contract addendum bringing that total to $1,417,970 (an increase of $200,000); a septic‑replacement contract adjusted to $947,426 (a decrease of $252,712.91); and an airport contract totaling $5,092,308.28 (an increase of $15,225.41). County staff said these updates align paperwork with decisions previously made by the board and council and will be submitted to the federal ARPA registry.
Staff noted that some programs (for example, the septic program) could not install enough systems to meet deadlines and that dollars are being reorganized to meet demonstrated needs. The motion to approve all four ARPA items passed unanimously. Commissioners directed staff to submit the revised plan documentation and to continue monitoring project implementation and compliance with federal ARPA reporting requirements.
