Monroe County commissioners voted July 23 to approve a three‑year renewal of the ESRI ArcGIS enterprise license, a contract county GIS staff said is central to expanding public mapping tools and internal GIS services.
The county’s GIS presenter told commissioners that since the initial enterprise license in 2023 the county expanded users, added a GIS technician, launched public‑facing web applications (including a storm dashboard and community resources), and recorded more than 63,000 site hits over two years. "This enterprise license agreement is gonna allow us to kind of continue to expand and and develop GIS across the county," the presenter said. Commissioners praised the transparency and utility of the GIS tools. The motion to approve the license renewal (fund 1138, $360,900) passed unanimously.
Staff said the renewal will reduce reliance on outside contracts, sustain ongoing applications (stormwater, voter reporting, public maps), and support planned stormwater long‑range planning work. The county’s technical services and surveyor offices confirmed they reviewed the agreement and recommended approval. The board directed staff to proceed with contract execution and to incorporate GIS outputs into upcoming planning efforts, including the Hopewell site design work presented to the City Council.
