Resident asks Selectboard to repair trail bridge at East Putney Brook; town says responsibility unclear

During the public-comment period Emily Peyton read a statement asking the Selectboard to fix a bridge on the East Putney Brook right-of-way. Peyton asked the board to take action to make the crossing safe for pedestrians.
Eric McGowan and Town Manager Karen Astley responded that the structure is located on a trail rather than a town road and "the Town is not obligated to fix at this time," and that the matter will require further discussion, including coordination with Westminster and additional research about liability and code compliance if the town were to act. Howard Fairman suggested a pedestrian bridge at the location.
