Owner to reapply for CDBG after demolition pauses Rumrill renovation

Kim Opperman told the Selectmen the Community Development Block Grant he applied for to install a sprinkler system and renovate two apartments was pulled by the executive council after demolition work began without required lead-paint and asbestos testing. Opperman said he commissioned the tests and is seeking the board’s support to refile the application in July.
Town Administrator Laura Buono clarified that the town did not pull the grant and that the executive council removed it; she said Mr. Opperman should reapply in July and the Selectmen formally voted to support his renewed application. “Mr. Opperman needs to re-apply in July for the grant; the town did not pull the grant; it was the executive council that did so,” Buono said during the meeting.
