The Stilwell City Council on July 16 voted to approve a 20-year lease allowing Stilwell Public Schools to use the Mehegan Building, adopting two textual changes to the lease language as part of the motion. Committee member Barrett Harris moved the approval and Coye Nettles seconded; the motion carried 4-0 (Debbie Johnson absent).
Harris asked that two clauses be revised before finalization, proposing the motion to change item #4 "from 'as jointly agreed by the LESSOR and the LESSEE' to 'each thirty days upon proof of completion and presentation of receipts'" and to change item #11 "from 'at least 30 days prior' to 'at least 90 days prior.'" The council recorded the amendments as part of the approval. The measure was filed through the consent agenda and required no separate budget adjustment.
Mayor Jean Ann Wright attested the action. The minutes show the meeting was posted July 14, 2026, with a revised agenda posted July 15, 2026. Next steps are administrative: executing the lease with the amended language and completing required signatures.
