Sponsors fund $78,000 Daktronics scoreboard upgrade for Lake Park and Audubon gyms

Landon Schultz, speaking for the Raider Basketball Association, presented a sponsored project to replace and standardize the scoreboards and shot clocks in the Lake Park and Audubon gymnasiums. He said the work will put Daktronics systems and LED accents in both sites and add stat panels so the gym visual experience is the same across both locations. "A 100% of the expenses of this project are covered by our sponsors," Schultz said. "The school will not have to pay a penny for this project."

Schultz described the installation timeline: materials possibly arriving in late July or the first week of August with installs beginning the week of Aug. 3 and a hoped-for completion before fall sports open Aug. 17. He listed sponsors who contributed to the package, including Lake Park Fire Department, Westland Excavating, Wagner Insurance, Lakes Community Co-op, RBG and BTD, and said the project cost was roughly $78,000. The district will use JK Signs (based in Perham) to perform the install and will replace the older Fair Play units in Audubon with Daktronics so both sites use the same controller and interface.

Board members asked whether stat panels would be installed on a single scoreboard per gym and why Daktronics was chosen; Schultz said panels will be placed where incoming visitors see them and cited local serviceability as a reason to pick Daktronics. He added the district is exploring secondary uses for the Fair Play units rather than discarding them. The presentation ended with a request that board members and community contacts direct further questions to Schultz or association members.
