Taft Chamber reports membership surge, lists autumn events and candidate forum

Stephanie Layton, representing the Taft District Chamber of Commerce, briefed the council on recent Chamber activity and upcoming events. She said membership renewals have risen from 56 to 72 and new memberships from 14 to 42 since June 1, and listed recent downtown successes such as cruise night and a parade.
Layton also outlined fall and winter events: a "sit and sip" on Aug. 6 featuring Tara O'Neil of California Resources Corporation, an Oct. 2 Chamber Golf Classic at Buena Vista Golf Course, an Oct. 8 candidate forum, a Nov. 1 Dia de los Muertos celebration, and a Nov. 14 Trout Derby at Buena Vista Aquatic Center. Mayor North and other council members thanked the Chamber for its work.
