The Taft City Council approved the engineer's report and adopted a resolution setting assessments for Landscape and Lighting Maintenance District No. 1 for fiscal year 2026–27. City Manager Craig Jones described the district (listing tract numbers) and recommended maintaining the parcel assessment at the same level as the prior year.
During discussion Mayor Pro Tem Bryant noted the general fund has subsidized the budget for this area and referenced Proposition 218 as a longer‑term solution. The council adopted the resolution on a 4–0 roll call. Staff said proceeds will pay for maintenance and operation of the district's landscaping and lighting.
