Plan Commission approves ground-mounted solar array at 2101 Airport Road

The Waukesha City Plan Commission unanimously approved a final site plan and architectural review for a ground-mounted solar array on the rear half of the property at 2101 Airport Road. Staff presentation said the array will be installed in six rows of 60 panels (360 panels total), cover about 24,000 square feet and reach a maximum height of roughly 10 feet.
"It'll be 6 rows of 60 panels each...for a total of 360 panels," Charlie, the planning staff presenter, said while reviewing the site layout and renderings. Staff noted the panels will face south, sit on metal ground-mounted brackets with concrete foundations, use a dustless gravel surface under and between panels to reduce maintenance and permit an underground electrical service to the building. The commission approved the plan subject to addressing all engineering-department comments. The action was moved by the Chair and seconded; the motion passed by voice vote.
