Summary
SFC Engineering presented a request to build a detached 30' x 42' garage 126' from a WWPD buffer where 200' is required; the commission pressed for infiltration (drip-strip, drywell) after applicant said cleared 'disturbed area' was previously grass.

At the May 21 meeting, SFC Engineering representative Tara Aquilina presented a variance application for 9 Glenwood Road to allow a 30' x 42' detached garage within 126 feet of the WWPD buffer where the ordinance requires 200 feet. The applicant described the lot as 6.4 acres with two large wetlands and said the post-development impervious calculation would be 1.3%.
Commissioners probed the extent of previously 'disturbed area' after Wayne Morris asked what that term meant; Aquilina said the owners had cleared and added grass without realizing the area fell inside the WWPD. Commissioners recommended a drip-strip infiltration system on all but one side and requested a drywell under the garage gutter to mitigate runoff. The commission asked for further detail and documentation before making a determination.
