ABZA to consider a 3-minute public comment limit; item added to July agenda

Area Plan Commission staff told the ABZA on June 24 that the APC and both city councils had recently implemented a three-minute limit for public speakers, and that ABZA's bylaws do not currently include a time limit because a prior edit likely removed that section. Ryan O'Gara said the APC changed its bylaws following discussions tied to the solar ordinance update and that adding a time limit to ABZA bylaws is at the board's discretion.
Gary Schroeder moved to add consideration of a speaker time limit to the July meeting agenda; Ed Butz seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Schroeder said he favored a three-minute limit for general public comments but recognized complex petitions may need more time for technical explanations.
