Superintendent Jody Purvis reminded listeners that Livingston Parish students will return to school on August 6: "On August 6, the buses are rolling," he said during the episode.
Justin Wax urged parents to attend orientation and to enter into a shared commitment with teachers. "Let's all commit to this thing together," Wax said, describing teachers lined up at orientation ready to support students; he asked parents to give the same commitment so teachers and families can lift students together. For students, Wax recommended "start with the end in mind" and plan steps toward five-year goals as a way to focus effort during the school year.
