The Select Board recessed as the Board of Health and granted a waiver of Section 102.2 of the Town’s sewage and waste disposal regulations for property at 185 Range Road. Applicant representative Joe Maynard told the board the site has a drilled well, that both systems on the lot are failing and sit about 40 feet from the existing well, and that the leach field is roughly 60 feet downhill from the well. Maynard told the board the existing in-ground system was a homeowner installation and not a previously approved system, so the in-kind replacement rule did not apply.
The board discussed technical details including well casing and the 75-foot setback; Maynard said there is no scientific evidence supporting that specific 75-foot setback for the system in question. Vice Chair Heath Partington moved to grant the Section 102.2 waiver; the motion was seconded by Mr. Hohenberger and passed 5-0. The board noted the replacement addresses a roughly 60-year-old failed system.
