Tibbets season wraps with '39' and final family shows; sponsors announced

Tibbets Summer Theatre's final main-stage show — a spoof on The 39 Steps — opens this week, and the Downtown Development Authority heard a season wrap-up at its July 22 meeting. Christine Delaney, introduced for the Tibbets update, said the show will run Friday and Saturday with additional performances next week.
Delaney said new sponsors are supporting the production, naming Liberty Propane, Trainwreck Bar and Ale House, and Keith's Jewelry. "It's a very funny show," Delaney said, and she encouraged community attendance. She also highlighted family offerings: this week marks the second of the popcorn-theatre run with Balloonacy, and the final popcorn show will be The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
Looking ahead, Delaney said the Eagles concert scheduled for Aug. 22 is close to a sellout and the theater will offer standing-room seating in the balcony to add a limited number of additional seats. She also previewed a Smith Memorial Concert by pianist Teresa Walters in September and said auditions for the fall show are underway as staff begin planning the 2027 season. "We're already starting to look at what 2027 will be and what that schedule will be," she said.
