The Kiona-Benton City School District board voted to table consideration of Superintendent Pete Peterson's contract extension and asked that the item be completed by the end of February. Director Mike Peterson and Director Danielle Harvey expressed concern about taking final action with only three members present; the motion to table carried 3' with Director Dan Raap absent.
Board members discussed timing and procedure rather than the contract's terms. Superintendent Peterson explained the contract contains a February date and said it is common for the item to appear on the January agenda; he agreed to provide a written agreement and bring the extension forward at or before the Feb. 9 meeting. The board recorded the motion to table and indicated the extension would be placed on the consent agenda when returned to the board.
