School board approves Resolution 1-2026 to use OSPI emergency grant for HVAC repair

The Kiona-Benton City School District Board of Directors voted unanimously to approve Resolution 1-2026, authorizing an emergency HVAC unit repair or replacement funded through the OSPI Emergency Facility Pool grant. Director Teddy Bryan moved approval and Director Dan Raap seconded; roll call votes were Yes from Directors Danielle Harvey, Dan Raap, Teddy Bryan, Mike Peterson and Board Chair Gina Warner, and the motion passed 5–0.
Superintendent Pete Peterson explained the grant and told the board the dollars are not part of the district’s current operating funds and, as he stated during discussion, “there is not [a] requirement to repay the dollars.” The board did not attach additional conditions in the meeting; staff will coordinate grant administration and present any required implementation details to the board in a future meeting.
