District staff updated the board on a pilot program of weekly grade checks and mandatory study tables for students at risk of academic ineligibility.
The presenter said the initiative has tripled study-table attendance this year and "we lost no one for ineligibility this year as a result of that," describing a substantially smaller ineligibility list than prior years. Under the continued pilot, students who are active in extracurricular or cocurricular activities must attend study tables if their grades trigger the support process before they are allowed to participate in practices or performances.
Board members praised the outcome and asked staff to continue the pilot into the second semester with clear reporting on participation and academic outcomes. The superintendent and curriculum leads signaled support for more intensive early‑math intervention next year as the district shifts instructional focus from reading to math, in line with recent state guidance.
