District unveils new website with ParentSquare integration to streamline parent communications

Smith-Green Community Schools staff showed trustees a new district website on Jan. 6 that integrates ParentSquare tools to consolidate communications and reduce navigation clicks.
The presenter said the new site is "hosted through ParentSquare" and described features intended to make information easier to find: one-stop navigation, previewable items (avoiding downloads), clickable images, calendar entries that update both ParentSquare and the website, and quick links for departments such as food service and human resources. Training for two secretaries (one per school side) and access for counselors and select staff were also described so each school page can be maintained locally.
Staff noted some pages remain in draft while the district weeds out outdated content; the rollout will be phased with district pages prioritized, then school-specific pages completed through the spring and summer. The presenter encouraged trustees and community members to test the mobile view and provide feedback prior to the full announcement to families.
