Smith-Green Community Schools leaders opened a public hearing on Oct. 6, 2025, where district staff presented the draft 2026 budget and supporting worksheets.
A staff member told the board, “the advertised rate of 1.1197…we are estimating that that should fall roughly about 0.9746.” The presenter outlined the district's debt-service, operations and referendum lines, explained the Form 3 that is advertised to taxpayers and walked through the Form 1 estimate of how the district plans to spend appropriated funds.
The staff member listed projected revenues and expenses for the 2026 budget and the current-year financial worksheet showing July–December balances and June 30 cash balances. During the presentation the same speaker cited a draft total of $16,069,004.48 from the materials. The presenter also described planned vehicle replacements and capital items that staff have included in the multi-year plan.
The board did not take any formal votes during the public hearing; the hearing portion was then adjourned and the board convened a special meeting to consider financing options for capital projects.
