Resident urges Fallsburg to investigate alleged unpermitted 17‑bedroom rental at 300 La Vista Drive

At the public-comment portion of the July 7 meeting, Stan Wagner identified himself and asked the Town Board to inspect 300 La Vista Drive, alleging the property was converted from an eight-bedroom single‑family home to a 17‑bedroom, 19‑bathroom commercial rental advertised for weddings and large events without permits or a short‑term‑rental permit.
Wagner said there is no evidence of a certificate of occupancy that reflects the apparent expansion, no building permits for the work, no short‑term‑rental registration, no proof of insurance on file and that required neighbor notifications were not provided. “Someone more than doubled the size of that house,” Wagner said, asking the board to order an inspection and to shut the operation down if it lacks required approvals.
The supervisor responded on the record that town staff are aware of the listing and will investigate. “We are aware of it, and we are going to look into what happened there,” the supervisor said, and promised to report back to the board. The building department later noted it is short‑staffed but recruiting additional inspectors to improve oversight.
