The Litchfield Planning & Zoning Commission completed several routine and substantive actions on May 4. Key votes included approval of an accessory apartment at 34 Scenic View Drive, denial of a shop & storage Special Exception at 39 McBride Road, approval of a seven‑unit boutique hotel conversion at 18 Russell Street (with operational conditions), approval of White Memorial’s minor site plan modification for a new aviary, and the formal recording of a prior approval for an accessory apartment at 87 West Morris Road. The Commission also accepted an application and set a public hearing for 284 Buell Road for May 18, approved the April 20, 2026 minutes, and acknowledged correspondence from M. Peloquin.
Commission Chairman Carol Bramley noted towns statewide are expected to adopt an extensive list of mandated House bills effective July 1, 2026 and that an extension to allow more time for review was anticipated; she also said the Land Use office "may have a ZEO by the next meeting." The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m., public hearings opened and closed as noted in individual items, and the Commission adjourned at 8:48 p.m. following a unanimous motion by S. Simonin supported by P. Losee.
