The Millcreek City Council voted unanimously to approve Ordinance 26‑08 authorizing a monetary contribution of up to $5,000 to purchase discounted Human Services UTA passes for residents in need. The Council opened and closed a public hearing with no public comments before taking the ordinance vote; the Recorder called the roll and the measure passed on a 5–0 vote.
Promise Program Director Kayla Mayers said the city received a $5,000 United Way grant and that the proposed city contribution would be used to provide additional UTA passes for children living at Bud Bailey Apartments to reach Granite Park Junior High School. Council members discussed whether to pursue school‑bus advocacy with Granite School District as a parallel effort. The ordinance passed without amendment; staff will proceed with purchasing discounted passes and distributing them per program guidelines.
