County awards $1 million mitigation backing for Live Oak Homes; FEMA projects discussed

Miss Pope told the board: "We did get the approval over the $1,000,000 of the mitigation infrastructure at Live Oak Homes," and said the authority could receive additional funding if tax credits are awarded.
Staff also summarized FEMA-related project planning: projects tied to FEMA and insurance were estimated at roughly $4.4 million and insurance approvals and a special application center sign-off are expected by the end of January before demolition and mitigation can begin. Staff said they are exploring settlement negotiations but did not expect that to occur before mitigation work starts in January 2026.
