Town manager: contractor will identify double poles; municipality not billed for most work

Town Manager Jessica Cyr told the Select Board that Lancaster is slated to be next in a program to address double utility poles. A contractor will conduct a ride-around to confirm what attachments are listed in the pole-owner’s system and determine work scope.
Cyr said, "The municipality will not be billed for flaggers or transfer of wires." She noted the only exception would be if the town has municipal-owned lines on those poles, such as fire or police communications, which could change billing and scope. Most attached lines are owned by cable or phone companies, which are expected to cover costs for their work.
No formal action was taken; the board was informed of the timing and that the town should expect contact from the utilities and contractor to arrange verification work.
