Selectman Shane Beattie said he has not heard recent updates on the Summer Street project and, drawing on his experience as a contractor, urged that bid requests be issued promptly.
"As a contractor I feel the bid requests should go out very soon," Selectman Shane Beattie said. Town Manager Jessica Cyr responded that the project remains in the design phase and that staff expect plans to be delivered to the town by May; she said the contractor appears to be on track with its contract and that it is not clear whether the town can accelerate performance. Beattie asked to meet with engineering firm Weston & Samson to explore whether the schedule can be sped up.
There was no vote or formal action on the project during the meeting. The discussion focused on scheduling and next steps for design delivery; Selectman Beattie requested a follow-up meeting with town staff and the engineering consultant.
