Fire chief reports staffing strains, vehicle maintenance and $3,000 repair cost

Fire Chief Randy Flynn briefed the Select Board on the department’s monthly statistics and vehicle statuses at the March 16 meeting.
Flynn said the department received 85 transfer requests during the prior month and declined 13 because of staffing limitations. He told the board Ambulance 4 and Ambulance 8 will be inspected by the State on March 17. During recent testing of the ladder truck Flynn said staff discovered the water-gun motor was not working and that a replacement part, at a cost of about $3,000, has been ordered.
The remarks were given as part of the department-head updates; no formal action or additional funding authorization was taken during the meeting.
