Midvale mayoral candidates emphasize public safety, recreation, housing and Main Street revitalization

At a special meeting on Dec. 10, 2024 the council heard 11 mayoral candidates outline their priorities. Paul Glover said public safety was his top priority, focusing on police and fire as well as services for people experiencing homelessness. “The Police Department, Fire Department, and the safety of the residents, including the homeless residents, is my top priority,” Paul Glover said. Brandy Boyer stressed transportation safety and affordable housing, saying she would “advocate for more affordable housing and push for transparency of rental fees and limit excessive rent increases to help renters save to purchase a home.” Several candidates, including Luke Maynes and Amelia Paulson, highlighted Main Street events and placemaking as part of downtown revitalization efforts. Candidates frequently said they would run for the elected mayoralty after serving the 12-month appointment.
