Nicole and Jeff Schoemaker addressed the St. Charles City Council on July 13, reporting that stormwater runoff after development at 401 W Council Drive has caused flooding at their home. The Schoemakers provided a handout that was entered into the council packet; they asked the council to investigate and respond.
Council members did not take immediate remedial action at the meeting but directed the city clerk to contact the city attorney for guidance on how to handle the situation. Mayor Brian Fitch also noted a nearby broken clay tile at 106 W Clanton; Councilmember Tom Blomme said he will inspect the tile and report back to the council so members can determine if curb work or other repairs should be included in next year’s roadwork plan.
