Silver Creek planning board approves routine items, weighs industrial rezoning and conditional IUP

At its Aug. 5 meeting the Silver Creek Township Board of Planning and Zoning approved agenda and minutes, approved a parcel transfer, heard Knife River on a pit proposal, tied an interim use permit to a rezoning attempt that failed on a 4-4 vote.
The Silver Creek Township Board of Planning and Zoning met Aug. 5, 2025 and approved the meeting agenda and the July 1, 2025 minutes. Ryan Nelson moved to approve the agenda with Andy Christensen seconding; the vote carried 8-0. Mark Egge moved to approve the prior meeting minutes; the motion carried 8-0.
The board approved a requested transfer of one section of a parcel identification number for the Rodney Hebrink item. Later in the meeting the board split 4-4 on a rezoning proposal for a Vorandesoto/Xcel Energy parcel, which caused the rezoning motion to fail. Chairman Chris Klein then made a motion to approve a conditional interim use permit (IUP) with specific conditions to apply if rezoning later occurs; the IUP motion carried 8-0. The board also heard a Knife River representative, Luci Snowden, on a Martie Pit matter and recorded her contact information for neighbors.
