Carlin council approves parcel split and signals intent to annex city-owned land for economic development

Council approved a parcel map dividing city-owned Parcel 002-210-041 (88 acres) into four parcels with planned uses for housing, potential apartments and parking, and a new public works site. City Manager Richard Braithwaite said the site holds critical infrastructure including water tanks, sewer systems and a municipal well; the council unanimously approved the map to facilitate future development.
Braithwaite also presented Resolution 2024-11 stating the council’s intent to annex adjacent city-owned land north of Equestrian Park and offer it for sale to encourage economic development. He said WB Tank and Manufacturing has expressed interest in establishing a propane tank refurbishment facility that could create roughly 70 jobs. The council unanimously adopted the resolution and advanced a related annexation ordinance (Ordinance 263) to a second reading on Jan. 8, 2025.
