City staff reported that legal posting requirements for Ordinance 261 had been met and that the proposed amendments were limited in scope. Richard Braithwaite said the changes included a one-year extension of the current franchise term and removal of one mutually agreed sentence, enabling the administration more time to prepare comprehensive bid documents for future sanitation procurement.
Denise Taylor moved to adopt Ordinance 261, Margaret Johnston seconded, and the council voted unanimously to approve the ordinance. The change provides continuity for sanitation services while staff prepare for a future procurement process.
