City Manager Richard Braithwaite described a proposal from WB Tank & Equipment LLC for parcel 005-060-019, a 40.99-acre site at the north end of the industrial park and Equestrian Center. Braithwaite said the prospective buyer proposed a $35,000 purchase price, construction of a 30,000-square-foot tank-refurbishment facility, extension of water and power to the site, and first right of refusal on an adjacent 80-acre parcel. He told the council the annexation process would require a boundary survey (completed), a zoning change to light industrial, planning commission hearings, and final council approval.
Councilmember Denise Taylor said she strongly supported attracting non-mining industries to the area; Councilmember Lyndsie Whigham raised a question about environmental considerations, and Braithwaite said operations would be contained within buildings with proper ventilation. The council voted unanimously to direct staff to work with the prospective buyer.
