Councilmember Cameron Kinney delivered a brief report on the Nevada League of Cities conference he attended beginning Oct. 9, praising new Executive Director Kelly McNeil for organizing the event and highlighting takeaways that may interest Carlin.
Kinney said the conference included a demonstration from Tyler Technologies of the Nevada Open Finance Portal, a budgeting-transparency tool being piloted in Carson City, and noted that Palo Alto Networks proposed a statewide cybersecurity alert system for municipal networks. He also mentioned connections on potential solar projects for city buildings and that Core Construction will present a Contractor Manager at Risk approach to the council in December. "I attended the Nevada League of Cities Conference from October 9 onward," Kinney said, summarizing his participation.
Kinney added that Carlin's donated silent-auction basket sold for $80 and that representatives from other municipalities expressed surprise at Carlin's level of development. He said he looks forward to attending the National League of Cities conference in Tampa.
