District leadership presented a multi‑step timeline to hire a new middle/high‑school principal intended to ensure stakeholder input and thorough vetting of finalists.
Heidi said the process would begin with stakeholder meetings (teachers, families, students and community) in early December to gather characteristics desired in a principal, post the position externally and internally in January, screen paper applications in early February, hold initial interviews and produce 3–5 finalists, and then conduct public forums and classroom visits for top candidates in March. The hiring committee would synthesize feedback and the superintendent would conduct reference checks and make a recommendation to the board in late March or early April with a goal of onboarding by July 1.
Board members encouraged broad community participation, including elementary parents, and discussed using the hiring committee to help craft screening criteria. Heidi said having served in the middle/high‑school role this year provides context to draft effective screening criteria.
