Depoe Bay council accepts resignation, appoints and swears in David Breidigan

The Depoe Bay City Council voted to accept Councilor Nassella27s resignation and, after discussion about whether to reopen both vacancies, appointed David Breidigan to fill the immediate opening.
Presiding official Mayor (name on the record) opened the meeting by confirming a quorum and asking for a motion to accept the resignation. The motion carried and council then discussed whether to appoint one person now or open both seats to new applicants. Councilors said they wanted public outreach if a second vacancy were posted.
By paper ballot, the council selected David Breidigan. After the vote, Clerk administered the oath of office. Breidigan repeated the oath, including a pledge to "support the constitution of the United States of America and the constitution of the state of Oregon," and accepted the appointment to serve the remaining term ending Dec. 31, 2026.
Breidigan said he appreciated the opportunity to serve. "Thank you very much for your vote, and I appreciate the opportunity to serve," he said after the swearing-in. Council members noted the swearing will be formalized on the council record and that Breidigan intends to run in the subsequent election if he seeks a full term.
The council also agreed to post any additional vacancy for public applications with a timeframe to allow interested residents to apply before the next meeting.
