Nephi announces Community Family Night Out; city lists additional community dates and accessibility discussion

During the May 19 meeting Chelsie Wilkey, coordinator for the Juab Prevention Coalition, announced Community Family Night Out on Monday, June 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nephi City Park; the event will feature booths, food trucks and free swimming at the Nephi Swimming Pool. Wilkey said the coalition’s work has been recognized at the state level, "paving the way for new prevention methods."
Other calendar items noted by staff included a groundbreaking for Nephi Western Credit Union on May 20 at noon and City Administrator Seth Atkinson’s planned State of the City address at the Nephi Chamber luncheon on June 4. The mayor also urged community help in planning a tractor show at the fairgrounds as part of America 250 celebrations in July.
In a related discussion council members raised accessibility concerns at the gun range. Suggestions included bathroom upgrades and using road mill to create smoother ground; potential National Guard involvement was discussed as a possible partner for upgrades. No timeline or funding source for the accessibility work was finalized at the meeting.
