Black Forest Paving submits low bid for Nephi airport runway rehab; council asked to authorize contract

City Administrator Seth Atkinson told the council that six bids were received for a planned airport runway rehabilitation and parking-lot project and that Black Forest Paving submitted the low bid, which was 25% lower than the engineer’s estimate. Staff requested authorization to enter into a contract with Black Forest Paving and said the contract could be ratified at the June 16 council meeting so the Federal Aviation Administration can award the related grant.
Atkinson noted the contractor had good references; the council did not record a final vote on June 9 and was asked to consider formal authorization at the regular meeting on June 16. The FAA’s grant award was cited as the next step contingent on city authorization and ratification.
