Nephi Council reviews Transportation Master Plan, $1.5 million road grant highlighted

The Nephi City Council on May 19 heard a presentation on a city Transportation Master Plan prepared by Jones & DeMille.
Matthew Lenhart of Jones & DeMille demonstrated the plan’s interactive website, explained proposed road classifications and a recommended roadway network that extends the grid out past the airport and south to Four Mile Road, and described how future roadways will be prioritized using traffic counts and crash data. “Having the plan will be beneficial in securing funding for projects,” Lenhart said.
City Administrator Seth Atkinson told councilors the plan will help the city pursue outside funding; Atkinson also described a $1.5 million grant the city has received for road upgrades. Council members raised specific repair needs, including 400 E; Atkinson said the 400 E project will be phased beginning in 2028.
The council indicated support for reviewing the plan online and requested time to make recommendations before the council considers formal adoption. Once adopted, Atkinson said the Transportation Master Plan will be posted on the Nephi City website.
