Nephi City requested $7,500,000 in Community Impact Board (CIB) funding to help build a new public safety facility that would house Nephi City Police Department and provide leasable space for state agencies.
City Administrator Seth Atkinson summarized the request, saying the application pairs $7.5 million in CIB funds with $7.5 million in city contribution (private financing if CIB funds are not awarded). He described a project schedule that begins with schematic design (April–July 2026) and anticipates occupancy in October 2028. "$7,500,000 requested as CIB Funds; $7,500,000 as City Contribution," Atkinson said while outlining the application.
Atkinson told the council the shared facility concept would include specialized evidence storage, holding areas, and private interview rooms, and that rent revenue from agencies leasing space would help cover debt service. He also noted that a CIB loan would be issued at a significantly lower rate than market, improving the project’s financing. Funding, if granted, would be awarded in October 2026; absent a CIB award, the administration said private financing would be pursued.
The council held a public hearing on the CIB application on June 2; no members of the public offered comments during that hearing.
